ABC-TV to air live Theater dramas amid dwindling film supply
CBS-TV viewers already saw a strong rating as ABC-TV outlines the 1967 68 season plans for Sunday Night at the Theater. The slate includes three prize winning plays Tennessee Williams You Cant Take It With You and The Diary of Anne Frank and a planned new ABC Stage 67 series. ABC aims to alternate Theater presentations with motion pictures and launch a weekly original drama series while pursuing sponsorships and a budget around 625 000 per show. The network notes stage plays draw larger audiences than formula series and cites past hits such as The Miracle Worker Judgment at Nuremberg and The Glass Menagerie as proof.
