Napa synchronized swim team heads for Europe tour

Ten Napa Swim Club synchronized swimmers plus diver Kay Tammer depart July 22 for Europe to perform at the Danish National Championships and in Holland, Norway, Sweden, Rome for the Olympics, Paris, Belgium then return to London. Ages 14 to 18, all AAU gold medalists. team backed by fundraising, coaches, and chaperones. Napa is the only community sending its entire team for the Athens Club Synchronized Swim Tour coordinated by Norma Olsen.

Lions Gain as Lions Club Pushes Lead in NUkiah Little League

In a high scoring night the Ukiah Lions Club built a 7-1 record with a 104 victory over the Jaycees while the Chefs upset the Jaycees with an eight hit attack and nine walks. Mike Harp and Tim Bechtel homered for the Lions Club as Ed Knight and Al Estes held the Cleaners to two runs. Ed Connolly homered twice for the Chefs but walked nine as Hugh Spear fanned four in a masterful start. standings show Lions atop the North Ukiah league at 7-1, Jaycees 6-3, Box Plumbing 3-3, Chefs 3-3, Ukiah Cleaners 3-6.

Former Ukiah Colt Mgr Named On College All Stars

Marshall Kreuter of Chico State, who managed Ukiah Colt All-Stars and Hollow Tree in the Colt League last summer, was named utility man on the 1960 Far Western Conference All-Star baseball team. Jim Whitaker of Nevada was bypassed after injuries limited his season and San Francisco State led with five selections. Kreuter had worked for Pacific Gas and Electric and was active in the local baseball program.

Loi Considers Switch Hitting For Ortiz Bout

SAN FRANCISCO UPI Duilio Loi Italy's boxing star said he may switch to southpaw for his Wednesday night bout with junior welterweight champion Carlos Ortiz.
