Household Hints on Greasing Pans and Painting Walls
The Department of Agriculture advises bland fats for greasing pans as butter and margarine contain protein that can coagulate and stick. For surface flavor, butter or margarine can be used with a thick layer to minimize sticking. For walls, apply semi circular strokes up to six inches from frames, then vertical strokes within an inch, finish with long steady strokes.
