Reagan pushes drunken driving bill through Senate
In California the Senate approves a presumptive limit on drunken driving. The measure, backed by Governor Reagan, would require about nine drinks for a 180 pound man to be deemed drunk, with lower thresholds for lighter individuals. Opponents doubt deterrence, while supporters frame it as medical fact-based and a state standard. The bill awaits Reagan's signature and would take effect three months after adjournment.

Ukiah city council scheduled July 29 as the formal vote date for residents of the Munson subdivision to decide on annexation to the city. The timing follows a protest hearing where a two-parcel submission did not represent a majority of property in the area. A majority in favor would advance official annexation proceedings.
