Six local churches including First Methodist First Presbyterian Assemblies of God Holy Trinity Episcopal First Baptist and St Mary of the Angels launch a Christian Coffee House in the former saloon building at 225 E Perkins StUkiah. The project aims to open afternoons and evenings as a social space for youths to drink coffee tea or soft drinks and discuss faith with staff workers led by Rev Dick Taylor. The outreach emphasizes Good Samaritan spirit and relies on community gifts to cover rent utilities and furnishings with donations sent through churches or directly to The Coffee House P O Box Ukiah.
Mark Allen Gray and Terry Jack Denzer, both 20 and from Garberville and Eureka respectively, were arrested by the California Highway Patrol in the Willits area on a felony auto theft charge and booked into county jail. They were to be transported to Eureka.

Arch ie Njames led the graduates and families in the flag salute as part of temple participation. Jacquelyn Garrison, a graduate noted as SF State College Ethnic Studies first year, received investiture and will enter law school. The temple plans heritage lessons for citizenship and continues community garden work to support service activities.
This Sunday both First Presbyterian and United Methodist Churches host a continental breakfast in Bromley hall from 8:45 to 9:30 before services at 9:30 and 11:00. Rev. Travis Hyatt leads both services with the message How Close Is the Kingdom. The Methodist choir performs Pray by R Carmichael with Shirley Clem on guitar and Don Zeek as soloist. youth music also planned.
