Subway Fire Blame Laid to Inspectors, Contractors
Transit Authority Chairman Charles L. Patterson blamed inspectors and a subcontractor after a subway rubbish fire filled tunnels with smoke. The blaze, started by a spark from L. I. Waldman & Co. debris, trapped thousands and sent 148 to hospitals. Firemen battled the flames in the Lexington Avenue line near Grand Central after power was cut and crews freed riders via steps and catwalks.

Funeral services for Sandra Lynn Buckley age 2 of Ukiah will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Eversole Mortuary with Rev. Ralph Fellerson of the Methodist church officiating. Interment will be in Ukiah Cemetery. Sandra was born July 1, 1958 in Ukiah and is survived by her parents Tamra Kay Buckley her grandparents Marvin Williams and Katherine Buckley all of Ukiah.
