Elks Jamboree Ball Featuring 16 Piece Orchestra
The Ukiah Elk Lodge holds its silver anniversary Bala evening with a 16 piece Grant orchestra from Palm Springs. The group, boasting players who have performed with the Dorsey Brothers Les Brown and Glenn Miller, will perform at Carl Purdy hall on Saturday June 17 and feature old new swinging and blue selections. Dinner for 700 guests will be catered and followed by guest introductions and 25 year pins for Active charter members. Tickets priced at 20 are on sale at Buxton Insurance 405 S State Street.

Frank E. Jones, Ukiah artist, was selected Best of Show for his oil Afternoon, Sea at Ukiah’s Festival ’72 art show attracting hundreds. Donna Dightman of Ukiah purchased the 22 by 28 inch painting. Jones focuses on seascapes, capturing mid afternoon light on blue green water.

Aaron M. Remington, Ukiah high school graduate and former KUKI announcer, has graduated from Southwest Baptist College Bolivar Missouri with a bachelor of arts degree. He survived open heart surgery in San Francisco and has studied for the ministry. Remington officiated December婚 at Wanda Remington’s wedding, daughter of Orliff and Betty Remington.

The second Spring Garden Luncheon and Fashion Show benefitting the Northshore Catholic Building Fund will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Clearlake Lodge in Nice. Tickets cost $2 with proceeds toward constructing a Catholic church on Clear Lake's north shore.
