Compromise: Buddhist Backlash in Saigon
A military faction widened its hold over moderates, dragging hundreds of altars into the streets in a protest against government and United States. A clandestine Buddhist radio at Tri Quang’s Pagoda headquarters broadcast the order. Surveyor hill range hints at ancient crater on Moon
Scientists speculated the feature seen by the Surveyor craft may be a mountain or isolated spur. The less than three mile long crest rises about 500 feet but height is uncertain due to a horizon base. It may be part of the rim of an unmapped crater about 60 miles across in the Sea of Storms, with the lander possibly inside the crater.
Gemini 3 4 Space Flight Ends With Close Landing
Gemini crew Stafford and Hayes splashed down 3,000 yards from the target after 45 orbits and 1.125 million miles in space. They were recovered by the Wasp at 10:51 am EDT and planned for medical exams aboard the carrier before Cape Kennedy return. Cernan's two hour spacewalk earlier fogged visor and a failed shroud hampered Gemini 9 docking. Stafford demonstrated rendezvous three times, coming within three feet of a satellite. The mission lasted 72 hours and 20 minutes.
