Politicians clash over crime research and Florida power bill
Brooklyn Rep Manny Celler pushes for crime research in a new anti crime bill but balks at Hoover and Rooney opposition. Republican Scheuer wins backing from McClory to push the idea. In Florida, Holland and Smathers back a private bill to exempt Florida Power and Light from the Federal Power Commission, aiming to bypass interstate rules. The move faces past overcharges and lobbying ties, with Magnuson preparing counter measures to prevent blackouts. Washington State notes a 35,000 black bear population.
