Drunk Driving Trial Begins in Laytonville

Jury trial opened in Laytonville for John N. Heavner of Willits on reckless and drunk driving charges. Judge George Carver presided at Underwood Park hall with two days planned, jury selection today. Volunteer Labor Builds Ukiah Airstrip Crosswind Runway

Ukiah residents completed a new crosswind landing strip on the local field after a Sunday volunteer effort led by D. J. McAllister. Four Sentenced To Jail For Attack on Deputy

Four Fort Bragg men found guilty by a jury on July 15 of resisting arrest and assaulting a deputy sheriff were sentenced to county jail terms ranging from 30 days to nine months by Judge Hale McCowen. Hakill received nine months and Evans four months. Ciapusci and DePriest each drew 30 days with a stay. The incident grew from a May 25 disturbance at the Track Inn in Boonville as Deputy Tolman tried to take them into custody.
