Firebug Sought as West Coast Forest Fires Burn Homes
State foresters said a suspected firebug may be responsible for eight fires near Redding, threatening 100 square miles of brush. Fires moved along an 18 mile front from Bella Vista to Cloverdale toward the Sacramento River, destroying seven homes and leaving only foundations at the municipal airport. Two Car Crash Injures Two Near Leggett
Two drivers sustained minor injuries in a two car collision four miles north of Leggett on the Redwood Highway. Bank of America wins Hopland water bonds bid
Bank of America, Ukiah branch manager Nelmes Smith announced the bank was the low bidder for 44 000 dollars in Hopland Public Utility District 1954 water bonds. A separate contract to renovate works was awarded to Claude T Lindsay Co of San Francisco for 29896 39. The old Hopland district merges with the Hopland Utility District to operate together.
