Eel River removal urged from Wild Rivers plan by Banker
Ukiah supervisor and 2nd district Senate hopeful Ernie Banker urged removing the Eel River from the Wild Rivers bill calling it a killer river. He argued federal studies show optimum summer flow around 10 CFS and warned higher flows worsen deep pool turbulence harming fish. He criticized Behr and Collier backed plans to dam the river, noting downstream impacts at Rio Dell and Fernbridge and advocating management instead of damming. He pressed to halt Warm Springs Dam efforts and questioned environmental impact testimony while stressing water needs and recreation concerns if flow increases or dam raises occurred.
