Convicts near transfer to federal prison hospital

Robbers Escape With $10000 From Lake Resort
Early today at 2 15 am three armed suspects robbed the Le Trianon Resort on Blue Lakes. They tied up manager Bob Sommers and guard Larry McLaughlin with police type cuffs, took $10000, and fled in a late model green Dodge Dart. Suspects include two men in their 20s with brown hair and a 19 or 20 year old woman with dark brown hair. No travel direction is known. Local sheriff's office had no further information.

Youth hijacks Japan airliner demands freedom for terrorist
A knife armed youth hijacked a JAL flight from Osaka to Tokyo with 76 passengers and eight crew. He demanded the release of Takaya Shiomi of the Japan Red Army and a flight to North Korea. After four hours at Tokyo, the plane refueled in Nagoya and headed toward an unknown destination, possibly Pyongyang, as riot police surrounded the aircraft.

Through July 15 last year five homicides were reported. this year five have been recorded as well. Aggravated assaults rise with three kidnapings in Ukiah and the year’s first bank robbery in 20 years. Four of five homicides cleared, suspects arrested in all kidnap cases, bank robber caught, many assaults resolved.
