California medical students receive $12 million loan program

Leary Seeks Political Asylum in Switzerland

Swiss lawyer for Timothy Leary plans to request political asylum to halt extradition to the United States. Leary was arrested Wednesday in Vilars Sur Olion near the French border and jailed in Lausanne at U.S. request. Former Ukiah Sister dies in San Jose

Sister Mary Matilda Lin Demandn, 88, died Thursday at Mission San Jose after decades of service at The Albertinum and the Mission’s Mother Church. Requiem is 9 a.m. Saturday at the Dominican Sisters’ Chapel. Burial follows at Sisters' Cemetery in Mission San Jose. Native of Germany with relatives there.
