PanAm 707 Crash in Pago Pago Kills 91
A Pan American World Airways Boeing 707 crashed in a violent thunderstorm just short of the Pago Pago runway killing 91 of the 101 aboard. Ten survived, eight seriously burned. airport closure followed. Pilot reported violent rain squalls before the 12 52 a m crash. Flight 806 was en route Auckland to Honolulu with crew based there and passengers bound for the mainland.

Mendocino State Hospital Auction Seeks 4 Million Bid
Mendocino State Hospital, closed in 1972 after decades of serving as a mental health and addiction treatment center, goes on the block with an asking figure around 4 million dollars. The sale covers 247 acres of land and 490 acres of agricultural land, with bids opening May 10 in Sacramento.
