Potter-led Ukiah narrowly tops Lakeport in non league clash

In a tense non league game Potter starred for Ukiah with 22 points while teammate Yoast added 20 as Ukiah built a big second half lead and held on for a victory. Power vandals shut off heat to Alpena homes

In 4 degree weather early Sunday vandals shut off the main valve feeding Alpena’s natural gas service. Michigan Consolidated Gas Co. shutoff affected about 2,000 homes and began restoring service after ensuring pilots were relit. Officials said crews would complete repairs and reheat attempts at affected areas.

Action-filled weekend in the Western Hockey League left standings mixed as Victoria Portland Seattle and San Francisco won or drew. Fire destroys stable area at Bowie Race Track killing many horses

At Bowie Maryland a blaze swept five barns in the Blueberry Hill section of Bowie Race Track early today. About 160 horses were housed there and at least forty are believed dead with the toll likely to rise as crews battle the fire discovered around 145 a.m. Injured horses are reported among the remaining animals as darkness hindered the search.

The Knicks beat the Celtics 116-115 after a late burst, Emmette Bryant scoring the decisive 20 foot shot. Barn Fire Destroys All Barns Amid Deep Snow
