Street Accident Fatal to Top Driver Hawthorn
Guildford England UPD police probe how world racing champion Mike Hawthorn lost control of his Jaguar on a wet highway Thursday. The 29 year old driver died at Guildford Hospital after the car skidded hit an oncoming truck and crashed on the opposite shoulder. Hawthorn had retired from Grand Prix racing to focus on his garage business near Guildford. Hawthorn’s friend Rob Walker said they had been racing on the road and strong gusts may have moved Walker’s Mercedes.
