Willits Man Acquitted in Hitchhiker's Death
A Willits man Scott William Knight was acquitted of murder after a two day trial. The victim Adam Bernard 25 of Daly City and hitchhiker with Tom Curry died at the Nova Rodrigues home where Bernard advanced toward Knight. Knight testified he feared for his safety and fired after warning Bernard to stop. The jury deliberated less than an hour returning a not guilty verdict.
