Ukiah high receives approval to host an intramural playday February 17 in the girls gym and Chessall gym, plus a weekly Tuesday night GAA program from 7 to 9 pm with four teams. Regular Wednesday practice continues. league play runs Wednesday evenings under Ukiah Recreation.
Latter-day Saints edged Faith Lutheran 50 to 28 as Pethel pumped in 27 points with 13 field goals and a free throw, supported by Marsh 14 and Foutz nine. Judd Nichols led Faith Lutheran with nine, while Evangelical Free fell 57 to 54 to Methodists in a close game led by Mattson 26 and Redding 24.
Roy Lown of El Paso Texas and Marion Ladewig of Grand Rapids Michigan pace the men's and women's divisions on the final day of a Miami tournament. The event saw top players advance to semifinals with Lown described as a frequent All American.
Potter Valley joins Ukiah in forming a 1962 Ukiah Valley Girls Basketball League with a Thursday night meeting at Ukiah high school gym. Organized by Dave Strong Jo n Mayfield and Leah McGee the league aims for at least six teams and details including team names and rules will be discussed.

Commissioner Pete Rozelle noted weather, new clubs, and stadium needs as crowds rise, with expansion including the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys. The league also extended the trading deadline to after the fifth game in 1962 and rejected moves to raise the player limit, add an injured reserve list, or require white jerseys for home teams.
Portland drew 4 126 fans for the fifth annual WHL all star clash as the Northern stars defeated the South 74 to nothing.
