The Davenport family of Calpella welcomed Matthew Rey Davenport born at 5 46 a m January 1 1966 at Ukiah General Hospital weighing 8 pounds 13 ounces Dr P R Allanson served as attending. The baby is the couple’s second child with a first son born November 16 1963. Merchants and the Ukiah Daily Journal hosted a welcome with gifts including certificates toys and baby supplies from J C Penney Co Fjord’s Smorgette Weisfield’s Ukiah Rexall and many others.

Four Injury Accidents In County Reported In Ukiah CHP Logs
Four injury accidents were logged by the Ukiah California Highway Patrol during the New Year weekend. On Friday at 5:20 p.m. a pickup driven by Gary Cooper, 18, Ukiah, collided with a car driven by John Pepper, 33, Covelo on Highway 101 near the Hopland Lakeport turnoff, Pepper cutting over from the center lane without signaling. Cooper’s vehicle hit Pepper’s rear. Evelyn Pepper, 29, Covelo, suffered minor injuries. The first 1966 injury accident occurred New Year’s Day at 7:45 a.m. on Potter Valley road near the Highway 20 turnoff, ice on the curve causing Myrtie Drennan, 36, Potter Valley, to lose control, leave the road, strike a tree. Drennan was taken to Ukiah General Hospital with moderate injuries. Two other minor injuries were reported Sunday.

Calpellan Held in Bar Robbery Case
Don Williams Calpellan, 21, of Calpella, was jailed on suspicion of strong arm robbery after a bartender from Ukiah reported being beaten and robbed in Bob's Bar restroom. The victim, LaCrosse, sustained a head wound and blood in the restroom, with about $5.50 missing and payroll cash of $484 unaccounted. Police identified Williams from the scene and continued the investigation.

Twenty One Seek Ukiah Junior College Trustee Seats
