Ukiah Teen's Death First Fatality of 1975
A 24 year old Ukiah man Alien Carl Engebritson died from injuries in a single car crash on Boonville Road on New Year’s Day. His passenger Douglas Lehr Jr. sustained serious injuries and remained in intensive care at Hillside Hospital. Engebritson, a former three sport Ukiah high star, was westbound when he overcorrected after speeding on a curve, the car sheared two trees, struck a boulder and ended in a creek bed. He was dead at the scene. Three other solo crashes during the holiday left two more injured.
