Gas Stolen From Ukiah Travel Trailer On Dora Street

Vic Porter reported two five gallon jeep cans of gasoline stolen from racks on the back of his travel trailer parked in a vacant lot in the 1200 block of S Dora Street. Owls can see in the daytime. Large rods in their visual cells permit daytime and low light vision. Ukiah Daily Journal reports bids due by 2 30 p m Tuesday March 9 for grounds and arena lighting at the Fairgrounds. Plans filed with local contractor associations. Electrical contractor duties include installing 70 foot poles with 18 floodlights each, poles sunk 10 feet with crushed rock and concrete base. Old poles to remain district property. New switchboard to be installed. Welfare building plans released for Lake County by Gillett Harris Duranceau Associates of Yuba City.

Mendo County Construction Bids Sought for 8000 Sq Ft Facility

Bids due Monday at the Lake County courthouse for a project of about 8000 square feet. Firms including Ivan Christensen, John Wagner, Todd and Fostmeier Construction, and Young Construction submitted bids, with plans on file at the MCCA plans room.

Coast couple injured in crash on 128

A small foreign sedan 2 miles southeast of Boonville rolled after overcorrecting on Highway 128. Emrogene Todd 67 and Hermie Gustafson 59, both of Fort Bragg, suffered minor to moderate injuries and were treated at Hillside Community Hospital.

Petty thefts investigated by Ukiah police

Ukiah police investigate a rash of petty thefts and burglaries across the city. A Shell bulk plant manager reported tools stolen from the 134 Leslie site. A fence roll was taken from Frances Lupano at 160 Thomas Street. A 10 speed bicycle vanished from Thomas Holladay at 711 N Spring. A resident reported mag wheels and fires removed from a car on Ford Street. A truck on Washington Avenue had several items stolen. Friday the 13th superstition noted with Last Supper reference.

Pittman Named Vice President and Cashier at Mendocino Bank

Wayne Pittman was named vice president and cashier of the Savings Bank of Mendocino County. A Ukiah native and 1951 Ukiah High School graduate, he joined the bank in 1952 rising from bookkeeping to head teller and cashier. Pittman is a longtime banking educator, family man, and active community member with roles in the Easter Seal Society, Redwood Valley Grange, and Tree Tracers Genealogy Society. He and his wife Lorraine Harper, married in 1953, live at Quail Run in Redwood Valley and have three children Erick, Lessie, and Mark.

Willits Man Identified As John Luke Vinton

Ukiah doctors using X rays identified a badly decomposed headless body found Jan. 24 in Willits near Mill Creek N Lenore Street as Luke Vinton 63 of Willits. A missing persons report was filed Feb. 18 1970 with sheriff's office. pathologist Dr Carl Aagaard aided by radiologist Dr John Hughes confirmed the identification.

Arrests for bench warrant and unemployment code violation

John McFall, 18, of Ukiah, arrested on a local bench warrant for failure to appear in court on vehicle code violations and jailed after unable to post 90 dollars bail. Trinidad Pulido, 24, of Talmage, arrested at the courthouse on unemployment insurance code violations and jailed to await arraignment.
