Ford edges Reagan Carter wins big in New Hampshire

Ford won a narrow Republican victory over Reagan while Carter captured the Democratic front-runner label with a solid win in New Hampshire. With 98 percent counted, Ford led Reagan by about 1,000 votes in a tight race. Carter led Udall Bayh Harris and Shriver in the Democratic tally as Humphrey floated a non-candidacy.

Ukiah High pool to be public use with wide access

Ukiah Unified district officials assured Tuesday night the proposed Ukiahi pool will be publicly accessible and not just for elite swimmers. They envision a large, multi-use facility for recreation, instructional and competitive swimming, with hours across mornings, after school, evenings, and weekends. The plan includes solar heating study, campus adaptation for 6-7-8 graders, and adjusted PE schedules as seniors opt for non PE credits.

Public Forum on Fluoridation Likely Draws Citywide Interest

A fluoridation public forum will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Mendocino County Library.
