Second homicide near Leggett in Mendocino County
The Mendocino County sheriff's office investigated a Sunday night death north of Leggett. Lewis L. Cohen 29 of Corrales New Mexico was found slumped over the wheel of his car off Highway 101 with a knife wound to the back. An autopsy ruled the wound the cause of death. Investigators have no suspects. The body was taken to Anker-Lucier Mortuary in Willits. This marked Mendocino County's second homicide of the year.

A brief ceremony at the Low Gap Road complex officially dedicated the Mendocino County rehabilitation center. County officials and law enforcement representatives attended as Ernie Banker, Sheriff Tom Jondahl, and former Sheriff Reno Bartolomie spoke.
