Stuck in the alligator ends with boy rescued
Two year old Lanny Ross became trapped between elevator doors on a fourth floor grill in Ukiah California. Tenants supported him with fingertips for over thirty minutes until firefighters freed him. His mother watched in fear as the boy cried I am stuck in the alligator and fell on the roof of the car during the incident reported February 20 1970.

Tipsy driving arrests by city police
City officers arrested two drunk drivers over the weekend. At 2:12 a.m. Saturday Officer Joe Zirbes stopped Floyd L. Nelson, 40, Ukiah, at Clara and State Streets. Sunday morning, Officer Roy Mathers with Reservist Bob Warner stopped John H. Jensen, 38, Ukiah, near Observatory and State Streets. Both were booked at the city jail.

Don Law, owner-manager of Sambo’s Restaurant in Ukiah, attended the company annual meeting in Los Angeles with over 200 Sambo’s executives. President Sam D. Battistone announced record 1969 sales of 32 million dollars, up from 24 million in 1968, with projected 41 million for 1970. Sambo’s operates in 14 states and planned 38 new restaurants in 1970. By year end the chain would run family oriented dining venues in 18 states.

Minors Arrested On Liquor Charges In Ukiah
Police detained two 17 year olds in a car at the Ukiah Theater lot at 12:27 a.m. on curfew violations and possession of alcohol by minors. They were released to their parents after detention at police headquarters. In Dunbar West Virginia a teen girl allegedly grabbed a wig and fled, with the accused girl in custody and the wig unaccounted for.
