Driver Cited After 100 Foot Fall Crash

Clarence Lockhart 28 of Ukiah was cited by the state highway patrol for drunken driving and driving without a license after his 1952 Mercury plunged 100 feet down an embankment on Orrs Spring Road. Ukiah Union high school trustees heard artists renderings of a two floor classroom music and science building and a new cafeteria as part of an 800000 bond proposal. The plan covers 22 rooms and remodeling of the current main building to handle enrollment projected at 1500 within four years.

Santa Rosa Man Cited For Drunken Driving

Robert Mexander Madison, 34, of Santa Rosa, was cited for drunken driving and driving on the wrong side of the road after state highway officers stopped him at 7 15 p m yesterday. He was driving a 1956 Ford station wagon south on Highway 101 about seven miles below Ukiah.

Nadine Conner to Sing at Ukiah Community Concert

Metropolitan Opera star Nadine Conner will perform at the fourth Ukiah Community Concert on February 28 at 8 15 p m in Ukiah Union High School auditorium. A native Californian, she lives in Compton with husband Dr Laurance Heacock and two adopted children. Admission is by membership card. the drive for 1956 57 season is set for mid March.

Drunken Drivers Sentenced in Ukiah Justice Court

Judge Fred Goss fined six individuals for drunken driving totaling 1950 dollars or 390 days in jail. Mary Alyce Strickland 26 Ukiah chose jail for 100 days and had one year license revocation. Eric Edward Henderson 46 Santa Rosa elected 70 days in jail with one year license suspension. Douglas Smith Ukiah, second offense, chose 70 days or 350 dollars and will pay remainder. Karl Huston Branch 28 Cloverdale chose 50 days in jail over a 250 dollar fine.

Ukiah Police Job Exam Tonight Draws Applicants

About 18 men are expected to take the examination at Ukiah High School tonight for a full time police officer vacancy with the Ukiah police department. Most applicants live in Ukiah with several from Arizona Covelo and Daly City in the pool.

State Allocates Funds For Flood Damaged Bridges Roads

The California Highway Commission will spend 11.653 million dollars from statewide highway fund reserves to rebuild flood damaged bridges and roads in Northern and Central California. Projects include U S 101 routes, Route 20, Route 299 and others from Del Norte to Trinity County with embankment drainage rip rap and slide removal work.
