Construction on Salida Valley to Begin in 1960

The International Olympic Committee and five major federations approved proposed facilities for the 1960 Winter Games and construction will start on June 20. Ken Macker of the Olympic Organizing Committee said housing for IOC officials athletes press and spectators will be built along with three ski lifts a bobsled run a ski jump an arena stadium an ice arena a speed skating rink and two practice rinks. California has provided 5 million dollars with a Senate bill for 2 990 000 more to promote the games and make the area a state park playground after 1968.
