Ukiah Riflemen Sweep Northern California Gallery Titles

Ukiah’s No 1 master team led by Wood Brown Palmer and Cummins posted 1567 of 1600 to top Willows and claim the Northern California title at Willows. Ukiah Expert team led by Rupe, Hamilton, Montgomery and Parker totaled 1537 to win the expert crown. Parker edged Hamilton for the expert individual title, both on 765 with Parker winning on better off hand score.

Canadian speed skater Paul Enok, 27, rising as a new sensation, heads to Moscow for the world championships after sensational weekend performances. Ukiah B team overcame a double overtime 40-39 setback at Montgomery, then beat Fort Bragg 52-35 in Chessall gym. Ledford 12 and Layne 16 led Friday’s rally, with DeAngelis 9, Gavin 10, Mattson 7, Galvin 6. In Santa Rosa an attempted time talk failed, Ukiah missed key free throws late. Ledford and Layne sparked the comeback with strong defense and fast breaks.

Celtics Coach Faces 750000 Damage Suit In Syracuse

Syracuse UP I report says Red Auerbach and four Celtics players are named in a 750000 damages suit filed by three Syracuse basketball fans over a March playoff bench scuffle. Plaintiff Dauccio alleges he was shoved into a group of Boston players, with Conley, Ramsey, Loscutoff, Heinsohn named in the suit. Auerbach says some fans offered to testify on his behalf and declined further comment.
