Title Fight Wednesday in Miami Beach Returns Lightweight Bout

Champion Joe Brown and former titlist Bud Smith continued preparations for Wednesday night’s 15 round lightweight title bout at the Miami Beach Auditorium. Brown of New Orleans holds the 135 pound crown after defeating Smith in New Orleans last August. Brown is 13-5 as the favorite. A 42 year old Texas oilman William Negley boarded a ship for the Belgian Congo to hunt elephants with a 102 pound bow and four bladed steel tipped arrows. He bets $10,000 with William K Carpenter of Wilmington Delaware that a pachyderm can be felled by bow and arrow for the San Antonio Witte Museum. 16 Foot Vault Goal of Oxis Gutowski at Millrose Meet
