Hurtling Car Drops In On State Street Store
A Pontiac sedan crashed into Smiths Shoes at the southeast corner of State and Standley in Ukiah this morning just before 10. William H. Keidel, 413 W. Smith, suffered facial cuts and remained slumped over the wheel. He clipped a pickup driven by David D. White, causing the car to lurch into the store entrance. Glass shattered but front of the building largely avoided damage. Virginia Minton, Harold Trenholm, and Russell Rose were present in the store at the time. Continued on Page 3.

A 16 year old Ukiah youth escaped injury when a runaway pickup driven by Donald Weatherly 16 struck a curb rolled along Perkins and Pine Streets and collided with the Petersen Larson and Irish law offices. Companions Bob Hodges 18 and Ted Loomis 18 of Aldah attempted to steer and brake but the truck hit the building and damaged waterlines. Weatherly was hurled from the cab as the car raced from the municipal parking lot. two others were unharmed but cited by police after the 20th incident of the new year in Aldah.
