Covelo Man Killed On Highway 101 In Night Crash
A 74 year old Covelo man, Robert F. Eschrich, was killed last night when struck by a northbound car on Highway 101 near Heart Arrow Ranch. Fort Bragg driver Elsie Mae Gretzinger, 44, said she could not avoid the pedestrian after rounding a blind curve. Eschrich, dressed in dark clothing, was walking in the middle of the northbound lane and was thrown about 45 feet. Patrolmen said they have no explanation for why he was in the road.
