Al Barbero, longtime Redwood Valley resident and grape grower, told supporters at the Manor Restaurant he will seek reelection in the June primary. Barbero, vice chairman of the board, serves on health and welfare and finance committees and completed the unexpired term of John Mayfield Jr. after Mayfield resigned to join the State. He cited Mendocino State Hospital, the ag preserves, and the Watson initiative as issues ahead for the county. Barbero urged supporters to call him and pledged to work for the county’s total welfare.
