Entry forms ready for winery art show at Sonoma Fairgrounds

Malcolm King of North Coast Grape Rowers Association announces the Vineyard and Winery Art Show on March 7 and 8 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds main pavilion Santa Rosa. Rich Kunde coordinates the event inviting local North Coast artists to enter, with past entries exceeding 125 works and judging to award prizes.

Presbyterian Women to Meet for Potluck at Bromley Hall

Presbyterian Women will meet Thursday at 12 30 for a potluck luncheon at Bromley Hall. The program by Mrs Robert Cardwell is titled A Sneak Preview of the Colonial Tea with excerpts from the musical planned for Feb 22. Hostesses include Mrs John Rafferty Mrs Arthur Hefte and Edna Newhaus. Mrs James Athey will preside in Mrs William Beatty's absence. Circles meet Feb 13, date changed due to the annual tea.

Pomo Council Rummage Sale At State Street

The Mendo Lake Pomo Council conducts a rummage sale at 801 N State Street through Friday. It runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily starting Tuesday. Only clothing is sold including many children’s items and dresses for older women.

Ukiah couple marks 50th wedding anniversary

Mrs and Mrs Clarence Ballou of Ukiah celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at their daughter and son in law Walter Eversole's home at 180 Barbara Street. Grandchildren and great grandchildren helped as family and friends gathered January 19 for music flowers and memories. The Rev Elmer Schmitt remarried the couple in a ceremony recalling their January 18 1925 Santa Rosa wedding. A gold and white cake was shared and a Manor Inn dinner followed with relatives from Lakeside Catalina and local guests.

Pancake Breakfast at Redwood Valley Grange Hall

The Youth Committee of the Grange hosts a Sunday breakfast at Redwood Valley Grange Hall from 8 to noon. Menu includes ham and eggs pancake or French toast and a beverage. Adults pay 1.50 and children under 12 pay 1. The public is invited.

Local store joins inflation fight with sew and save sale

The Sewing Corner under Betty Veach announces a sew and save sale starting Thursday to help homemakers save on home sewing. A ready made garment vs home sewn display is shown. The store ties the program to White House approval of a major retailer oriented home sewing push for February 1975 and the WIN program to boost awareness of savings from home sewing.

Winter Ski Sunburn Risk Warned by Research

Recent research shows sunburns can occur in winter and on windy days. Skiers may develop facial or scalp burns after hours on slopes, especially if hair is thinning and no cap is worn. Emollient sunscreen should be applied before leaving for the slopes to protect skin and retain natural oils.
