Ford proposes $349.4 billion budget with $52 billion deficit
President Ford sent Congress a budget outlining a $1 billion a day spending path for 1976 and a $52 billion deficit. He warned of inflation and unemployment rising in 1975 before a hoped turnaround by late 1976. Forecasts show unemployment near 8 percent late this year and inflation around 9 to 11 percent, with production rising and two million jobs added by end of 1976.
