City Hall 2011: change energy and long-range street plans
In our opinion, city actions for 2011 include finalizing recreational marijuana policy, improving State Street streetscaping with a new resident briefing, restoring the Palace Hotel project, overhauling western hills fire evacuation plans, continuing street fixes aided by a new city sales tax, repairing UVSD relations with Ukiah Valley Sanitation District, and considering a yearly city-wide yard sale to boost recycling and cleanup.

Ukiah Takeover Plan by Tommy Wayne Kramer
A manifesto style piece depicts a self described reformer arranging a bold ten year plan for Ukiah. It names Lake Mendocino Drive and local streets for reconstruction by students, converts churches to housing and meals, seeds lands for marijuana production, and envisions political power shifts with figures like Sage and Shannon. The author laments decline in orchards and industry, mocks leaders, and hints at a satirical political takeover.
