Four bowl games slated Saturday East leads shrine tilt

Bowl action includes Gator Bowl where Georgia Tech meets Penn State, Sun Bowl Villanova vs Wichita State, Blue Gray in Montgomery and East West Shrine in San Francisco. Coach Bobby Dodd comments on Tech Penn State showdown with balanced rosters and strong defense. Hornung Named NFL Player of the Year

Paul Hornung of the Green Bay Packers is voted the NFL player of the year by United Press. Despite injuries and Army obligations, the 215-pound versatile back led the league in scoring with 146 points, gained 4.7 yards per carry, and contributed as passer and placekicker. Teammate Jim Taylor and Sonny Jurgensen received eight votes each, with other stars earning smaller totals.
