Coon Hunter Survives 550 Foot Fall in Smoky Mountains

Bill Everett of Maryville Tennessee, a dedicated coon hunter, fell 550 feet while chasing his dogs near Calderwood Lake in the Great Smoky Mountains. Rescue crews lowered him from a cliff by boat after he tumbled down a ledge and suffered cuts and bruises, then he was treated and released from the hospital.

Ted Williams, retired Red Sox outfielder, signs a more than five year contract with Sears Roebuck to design test and promote outdoor sporting goods. The 1960 NAIA All-America offensive unit features a 21 pound line and a backfield averaging 198 pounds with 10 seniors and one sophomore. Drew Roberts of Humboldt State set an NAIA single season record with 75 receptions and was named outstanding lineman in the Holiday Bowl.
