Beech craft crashes into pine tree near Middletown killing pilot
Eugene Bradscy 45, a San Francisco teamster, died when his two engine Beech plane struck a tall pine at a private Middletown airstrip after buzzing his home twice as signals to meet him. He commuted daily from Middletown to San Francisco and was ejected on impact. His wife and children witnessed the crash. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Alameda Man Killed In Highway 128 Crash
Michael Ray Turner a 25 year old Alameda resident died when his car left Highway 128 near Flynn Creek Road crossed the shoulder 150 feet and struck a redwood tree the vehicle overturning rescuers freed him after about an hour. Turner was traveling at excessive speed and was bound for Fort Bragg. He is survived by his widow Carolyn Turner of Alameda. Funeral services will be held in Alameda.

Kayak mishap fatal to Leggett man
Deputies and volunteers search the Bel River for 34 year old Robert Stafford of Leggett who disappeared after a kayak overturned while he and 31 year old Raymond French left Riverdale resort for Garberville. Ukiah Firemen Contain Blaze at B C Plant Edging Machine
Ukiah firefighters battled a blaze at the Boise-Cascade particleboard plant yesterday evening. The fire broke out in edging equipment in a refinishing area and was extinguished by 7:49. Damage was limited to the edging machine while investigators determine the cause.
