A woman was pronounced dead after a trailer home fire in Nice on Tuesday evening. Two dogs perished. Fire officials say an electric heater placed too close to combustibles started the blaze in the kitchen. Investigators deem the incident accidental. Witnesses reported a person trapped inside before crews arrived. Northshore Fire Chief Jay Beristianos said 16 firefighters responded quickly, but the victim could not be saved. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is awaiting positive identification. NFPA notes space heaters cause most home heating deaths and urges safe placement and distances from combustibles.
