Aparicio Has Best AL Mark At Shortstop

Luis Aparicio posted a .979 fielding percentage at shortstop in 1960 the best in the American League. The White Sox led AL defense with a .9819 team fielding mark, aided by Sherman Lollar and strong infield and outfield showings. Pedro Ramos headed 60 chances with no errors as Washington pitchers piled up solid defense.

Maris Secures Slugging Title in 1960 Baseball Year

Roger Maris was officially named the American League's leading slugger for 1960 with a .581 slugging percentage after 499 official at bats and 290 total bases. Mickey Mantle finished second at .558, as the Yankees set a club record with 193 homers in a season and led the league in overall slugging at .426.

Rangers End Game With 2-2 Tie After Goalie Pull
