Seven Year Old Driving Lesson Ends in Tragedy

Fresno Woman Judith Wang Drowned in River Incident
A Fresno woman identified as Judith Wang, 22, was swept into deep water and drowned four miles from a road junction near the Little River. A companion tried to save her but failed. Keith Rice of Berkeley told deputies that the victim lost footing and was pulled under by strong currents after a sprig of mistletoe was found near the base of a tree. Edwin Myr was reported head injuries from a fall after the incident. The body was taken to Anker Mortuary in Wilitese.

Ukiah received 4.47 inches of rain from 5 p.m. Friday to noon today, with 2.94 inches falling from 5 p.m. yesterday, the wettest streak of the year. The official total now stands at 18.95 inches, far above 12.82 inches on a game date. The Patio Gardens restaurant on South Highway 101 closed as water flooded the interior. they expect reopening tomorrow. County Road Commissioner Kempe Richardson noted a new slide near Longvale to Covelo, keeping roads intermittently closed. Boonville road remains open for now, while State Highway 101 north to Benbow and Highway 2 to Garcia River remain affected by flooding.

Manslaughter Arrest Made in Ukiah Case
Sheriff detectives arrested Robert Frank Myatt 26 of N State Street on a manslaughter charge after his car collided with a southbound vehicle near the Yokayo Bowl in Ukiah killing Roy Mitchell 25. Myatt appeared before Acting Chief Fred Collins, was granted a continuance to obtain counsel, and posted $1,100 bond before release.
