Turkish student shares homeland life with Soroptimists
Ukiah High School senior Tas spoke to the Soroptimists Monday about life in Turkey during Christmas and New Year holidays. He demonstrated a mandolin and sang a Turkish song for the luncheon audience. He described a four day Muslim holiday with animal sacrifice and charity, noted limited TV, and said girls and women dress much like Americans. Tas was accompanied by his mother Mrs. A.S. Kruth. Others present included Nancy March, Dixie Britton, Mildred Neumann, and Audrie Avery. Jane Rinehart won the mystery prize and Laura Long gave the invocation. Ski fashion notes followed, highlighting slimmer sweaters in varied lengths and styles for layering.
