Corequisite remediation aims to boost CSU graduations in California
California faces a future skills gap as forecasts call for 35 percent more CSU graduates by 2030. CSU plans a radical shift to corequisite remediation, letting students enroll in college courses while earning credit for remedial work. The program, drawing on City University of New York and Tennessee junior colleges, starts next fall except Monterey Bay and Sonoma. Critics fear rushed design while supporters cite potential efficiency gains and higher graduation rates.
