National Unity movement backs patriotism in Ukiah
Antonio Otero chairman of the National Unity movement in Ukiah announced the group’s support for the country and the American flag. He denounced anti American protests and Vietnam withdrawal while praising fighting men and seeking an honorable peace. Lapel tags are available at local banks and letters for donations or tags may be mailed to Ukiah Route 1 Box 184 H. Over 75 supporters signed in recent days, joining 300 names in a prior ad.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Covelo Presbyterian for Mrs. Elmyrah Ella Hagne 84 of Covelo who died Wednesday after an extended illness. Driver booked after mishap on State Street
Merton J. Reed, 53, of Berkeley, was arrested just after midnight on reasonable cause drunk driving after his car struck a parked vehicle on State Street. Police found him apparently under the influence after a second accident in as many days. Both cars sustained minor damage. Reed posted bail and was released from city jail.

Four burglary suspects bound over to Superior Court
Four young men Carlos Sanchez Dirk Wildberger Jr Michael McCreary and Clifford Chick were bound over to Superior Court after a preliminary hearing for the burglary of Custom TV and Farmer John's Market. They were to be arraigned in a week. The break in occurred November 25 and items were loaded from a house off Robinson Creek Road near Ukiah. A police officer fired at the rear window of Sanchezs car during their escape. In a separate case Ray Louis Roeder was jailed on drunk driving and license charges with a $422 bail.

Britain’s first septuplets possible for February birth
London reports that Rosemary Letts, 23, wife of a computer engineer, may give birth to seven babies next February. Doctors at University College Hospital said x rays show multiple births and that fertility drugs were involved. The family previously had five British quintuplets born last month.

Leroy Alonzo Peterson, 62, of Flint Michigan, was arrested near Leggett by CHP on charges of driving with an open container and driving outside his restricted license. He appeared in Long Valley Justice Court and was sentenced to a $62 fine or 12 days in county jail.
