Indicted ex-Senator Brewster linked to postage case

Washington reports former Maryland senator Daniel Brewster faces charges in a federal grand jury case. Five payments from Spiegel to sway his vote on a 1967 parcel post related postage rate bill are cited. Brewster, 46, married to Anne Bullitt Biddle, was last seen at their Dublin Ireland estate. Spiegel spokesman says no officers or employees named as defendants. If convicted, Brewster could face up to 15 years and fines up to 20,000 dollars per count. The indictment notes Brewster voted for final passage of the bill on Nov 29 1967.
