Formaldehyde emission standards delayed by county board

County supervisors postponed action on tighter formaldehyde emission standards until a September 10 hearing. Dr. Holtzer and GP officials pledged further data after meetings at Cal Tech. The hearing heard from GP engineers, an attorney, and about 30 Ukiah Valley residents urging on the spot adoption, amid debate over potential plant impact and asthma risks.

Mendocino County adopts $24 million budget with tax rate drop

The 1974 75 Mendocino County budget increases 11 percent amid a tax rate cut for the third consecutive year due to higher assessed valuations. Supervisors set the rate at 3.37 per 100, allocating 2.91 to the general fund and 0.40 to the road fund, with a 0.06 increase for capital outlay. Salaries and benefits total nearly 9.2 million, while services and supplies reach about 7.2 million. other charges total 8.25 million. Fixed assets include 125,000 for land, 328,906 for structures, and 778,208 for equipment. Expenditure transfers and reimbursements total 2.2 million, with 350,000 in contingencies.

Ukiah to raise property tax for 1974 75 year

Ukiah residents will pay 1.05 dollars per 100 of assessed value more in 1974 75 than the prior year due to school taxes and bonds. The total rate for the average city resident reaches 10.95 dollars per 100 with allocations including county general city Ukiah Unified college and various district taxes and bonds.

County AG opinion sought on predator control EIR

The board debated whether the county must prepare an environmental impact report for the predator control program. Assistant DA Tim Stoen urged an EIR or at least a negative declaration, facing opposition from Supervisor Ernie Banker. The board approved seeking the AG's opinion 3-2, with Banker and Williams dissent, and the trapping program to continue meantime.
