A 14 year old Lakeport newsboy, George Metteer, tried to save Clyde Stevenson after discovering him injured in a trailer near Kelseyville. Despite summoning help and performing artificial respiration, Stevenson died before rescue crews arrived. Al Thrasher announced the sale of Al Thrasher Corporation assets south of Ukiah to the Schliengers for an undisclosed amount. The new firm, Retech Inc., will research and manufacture machinery. Schlienger, founder of Schlienger Inc., is a noted high temperature furnace inventor with European installations. A four mile north of Willits crash on US 101 fatally injured Humboldt County father Paul Regis Burton, 24, and his three month old daughter Sara Burton, after a small foreign car struck a gravel truck slowed on the highway.
