Tully praises summer school impact and staff effort

Tully highlights an uptick in remedial and advanced learners with 180 more pupils than last year. Summer session ideas under a new educational services head

Classified staff institute for Mendocino schools

The yearly classified institute for school personnel will be held Monday Aug 30 at Ukiah High School from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lunch is available for a nominal charge. Attending schools include Point Arena Manchester Anderson Valley Fort Bragg Mendocino Round Valley Ukiah Willits Lake Cloverdale. Speakers include Lou Delsol and Dr Donald DeMartini with sessions for clerical, custodial, transportation, and maintenance staff.

Busy Willits Lodge Hosts Diverse Weekly Events

Manager Rang Boltwood notes the Lodge as the world’s busiest venue with a string of recent activities. The interior hosted an earthquake seminar by the U S Interior Department and a wine tasting contest sponsored by Krug Wingly for the Willits Sorority Phi Sigma Chi. Sixty two Shriners and guests attended a Skunk train ride, gala dinner, and the next morning elaborate brunch. Additional gatherings included Montgomery Ward employees, a USAF Recruiting Services seminar, Car Farm Insurance meetings, Humboldt Mendocino Lake supervisors lunch, Regional Medical Group, Children’s Home Society, Redwood Empire Pastors Association, Teichert Construction safety dinner, and PG&E group events.

Man Arrested After Redwood Valley Brawl

Gerald Patrick Hook, 25, Redwood Valley, was arrested on a Ukiah Justice Court warrant charging assault with intent to commit great bodily harm. The arrest followed an early Saturday fight with deputy Ron Reynolds near W Perkins Street and State Street, after an argument involving Hook and another person.

Traffic Mishap Injures Man At Ukiah Intersection

A two car collision at Oak and Perkins Street at 5 25 p m injures one person slightly. Drivers were Mike Carlotti 20 and Thomas Patterson 66 both of Ukiah. Patterson suffers forehead abrasions and will see his physician.

Two Fort Bragg residents booked on drug charges

Charlotte Louise Everett aged 29 was booked for sale of dangerous drugs possession of marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia. Richard Warren Everett aged 30 was booked for selling dangerous drugs possessing marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia. Charles Eugene Bryant aged 37 was booked for possessing marijuana. Deputies arrested them Tuesday in Fort Bragg.

Police arrested 56 year old Robert Carl Ording of San Francisco on N State Street Calpella early today on suspicion of drunk driving and jailed him in the county facility.

Oil slick reaches shores near Nixon beach invasion spill

A 30 mile oil slick from a Navy tanker washed ashore at Dana Point Doheny State Park and the president's private beach. About 100 sailors and Marines cleaned gooey oil balls at Camp Pendleton and other sites. The spill originated from the USS Manatee refueling the Ticonderoga. human error left valves open. No major wildlife deaths and minimal ecological impact feared.

Board approves 72000 for courthouse annex renovation

The board approved a 72000 project to renovate the former Bank of America building on South School Street for county services data processing central services offices printing facilities utilities and county computers. The figure covers architect fees per county administrator Al Beltrami.
