North South All Star clash features Ukiah stars in Arcata

Chargers Release Eight To Trim Roster To 49

San Diego Chargers cut eight players to reach the AFL limit of 49. Waived were rookie halfback Nate Johns from San Diego State, rookie kicker Dave Conway from Texas, rookie end S T Safford, second-year fullback John Travis, rookie guard Larry Little, second-year guard Don Estes, rookie defensive back Haven Kicklighter, and second-year end Dave Plump from Fresno State.

Cepeda Wrecks Giants as Cards blank SF 9–0

Orlando Cepeda drove in four runs with a three run homer and a single to power the St. Louis Cardinals past the San Francisco Giants 9–0. Nelson Briles earned an 8–5 start while Sadecki faltered early. Dick Williams, Boston's young manager, praised his club after a 2–1 and 5–3 win over Washington as Boston stretched its streak to seven.
