Aldiah Dolphins Take Second at Plymwood Empire Meet

In Division II of the Plyorwood Empire Swimming League Championship the Aldiah Dolphins scored 370 points to finish second behind Napa 330. The meet saw Ukiah Sue Stacey dominant in 13 14 Girls with multiple wins and Dennis Stacey leading 15 17 Boys in multiple events. New pool records set by Scott Marshall Napa George Collins and others highlighted the strong showing by Redwood Empire swimmers. Dolphins also posted several relay record efforts amid team size challenges.

Father-Son Golf Tournament Crowns Winners Amid Close Scores

The annual Father-Son Golf Tourney finished last Sunday with 24 teams. Don Bones Jr. and Sr. defended their gross title with 70, edging Ward Briggs and son and Rod Zimmerman and his son at 71. Low net honors went to Al Hardy and son, while Lee Williams and Tom Welch claimed a separate team prize. A postplay smorgette dinner followed, with Jo’s cold pop from Safeway.

Oakland Legion Wins Region 8 Title in Tucson

Oakland California defeated Kailua Hawaii 10-4 to seize the Region 8 American Legion championship and earn a World Series berth in Orangeburg South Carolina next week. Bernie Williams cleared the bases with a first inning double. Hawaiian errors allowed four Oakland runs in the ninth before Mike Babler closed out the rally.

Ukiah's Dolphins will be feted by parents and Scropti mist Club and other sponsors at a season awards dinner in the Mendocino State Hospital Auditorium at 7 p.m. Wednesday night. Mrs. Robert Rinehart is in charge of arrangements. The dinner corrects an earlier printing that listed 8 p.m. Presentation of the Pearce Hardman Memorial Trophy and the Outstanding Swimmer trophy plus other trophies and medals.
